Unique Jewelry to Wear When you Travel
Unique jewelry wearing is what I am known for! But this story beats them all. I was traveling in South Africa recently and when I was in a shop in downtown Johannesburg, I was approached by the shopkeeper who wanted to purchase the 14K gold elephant necklace I was wearing, right off my neck! “Oh, no, this gold pendant means a lot to me!” I blurted out without thinking. Then I smiled. I guess my knack for collecting unusual handmade pendants finally has paid off, if someone in Africa is trying to buy one!
Mostly, sterling silver jewelry is what I collect. But on this particular day I had on the gold. So the following day I went to the same shop with my silver giraffe brooch on just to see what would happen.
“Miss! May I see what you are wearing?” the shopkeeper certainly was not shy! I showed him the silver pin and he made me the same offer. Now I was curious.
“What would you do with this jewelry if I sold it to you?” I asked. “Oh, I’m in hot water with my wife and she loves animal jewelry almost as much as she sometimes hates me.” At least he was honest! So I gave him the website address.
